Dr. Linda Vermooten is a psychologist, educator, and longtime advocate for children and families. With more than 25 years of experience in mental health and education, she understands the challenges students face both inside and outside the classroom.

Linda is running for the Learning Community Coordinating Council – District 5 to help strengthen partnerships between schools, families, and communities while ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Her focus is simple:

Meet Dr. Linda Vermooten
Dr. Linda Vermooten brings decades of experience serving individuals, families, and students.
​
Born and raised in South Africa, Linda came to the United States to pursue her calling in education, counseling, and service. She earned advanced degrees in counseling, theology, and psychology and later served as a professor and department chair training future mental health professionals.
​
She also operated a private counseling practice in Lincoln for ten years, helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges.
​
Linda believes strong schools begin with strong families, engaged communities, and a commitment to helping every student thrive.

What is the Learning Community?
The Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties is a regional partnership of local school districts working together to narrow the student achievement gap and expand educational opportunities.

The Learning Community supports programs that:

• Promote early childhood education
• Support family engagement
• Provide academic resources for students
• Strengthen collaboration between schools and community organizations

The Learning Community Coordinating Council helps guide these efforts to ensure resources are used effectively to benefit students and families.
